The Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, came to force on 26th May 1993.
The main motive of the act is to prohibit the employment of children in all occupation and to prohibit the employment of adolescent in a hazardous occupation.
As per Section 2(1) of the act, anyone who has completed the age of 14 years but not 18 years is adolescent.
Also, anyone who is below the age of 14 years is called "Child".
