The supreme court of India gave detailed guidelines to prevent cases of sexual harassment of women at workplace in the famous case of Vishaka V.State of Rajasthan in 1997.
The guidelines are also known as the Vishaka Guidelines.
It made a duty of employers to take all measures to ensure that no such harassment is done at the workplace and also outlined a mechanism to address such grievances.
This guidelines also provided for establishing a committee for this purpose which was to be headed by a woman itself.
Hossainarah Khatoon is a famous case which is marked as the start of PIL in India.
Shayra Bano case of 2017 is another landmark case in which the supreme court made the "triple talaq" as invalid.
