Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is a private deemed university and an Institute of Eminence located in the outskirts of Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. It is one of the top engineering colleges of India. It was ranked NO. 1 by NIRF - ARIIA in 2019 among private engineering colleges.

Founded in 1984, as Vellore Engineering College, by G. Viswanathan, the institution offers 20 undergraduate, 34 postgraduate, four integrated and four research programs. It is majorly known for it's placement, diversity and research and training opportunities. It has campuses in Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal and Amravati Andhra Pradesh

Exam Pattern

 VITEEE is conducted for admissions into various courses of B.Tech in one of the campuses of Vellore Institute of Technology. VITEEE is an online entrance exam of duration 2 hours and 30 minutes having four sections of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English. Candidates going for B.Tech Biotechnology have to opt for Biology instead of Mathematics. Each section will consist of 40 multiple choice questions except English which will have only 5 questions.

The eligibility criteria of VITEEE includes details of the qualifying exam, subjects studied, minimum marks needed, age criteria, and other details. It is important for the candidates to read through the VITEEE eligibility criteria before filling the forms as the candidates who fail to meet the criteria would not be allowed to sit for the exam


Eligibility Criteria




  • Both the residents and non-residents of India can apply

  • Foreign applicants can apply through Foreign National Application Form.



  • The candidates with Date of birth on or after 1st July 1997 can apply for the VITEEE 2019.

Note: The date of birth recorded at class X/ SSC/ High School certificate will only be considered authentic.



The candidate who wish to appear in the VITEEE 2019 exam should have completed.

  • Should have passed 10+2 of Higher Secondary Examination through CBSE, ICSE or any other State Board.

  • The candidate who has given any Pre-University Examination or Intermediate through recognised Board or University.

  • The candidate with a High School Certification from Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma from the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.

  • The candidate with any General Certificate Education(GCE) from Cambridge/London/ Srilanka with an Advanced 'A' level.

  • The candidates from National Institute of Open Learning (NIOS) can apply.

  • All the students who have studied full time, regular and formal education can apply.


Qualifying Marks and subjects

  • Should have scored 60% and above in Maths/ Biology, Chemistry and Physics in their 10+2 respective exams.

  • Candidates from SC/ST Categories should have scored 50% in the above mentioned subjects.

  • Candidates from the North-East should also have 50% and above in all the subjects.

  • The students who have studied Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics are eligible to appear for the exam.


Year of Passing

The candidates who want to appear for VITEEE 2019 should have either completed or shall be appearing in the qualifying exam in 2019.

Candidates appearing for VITEEE will have to appear for three subjects namely Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and English. Therefore, going through the prescribed syllabus will help the candidates know the topics to be covered for VITEEE. It may be noted that candidates appearing for B.Tech Biotechnology have to check the Biology syllabus of VITEEE instead of Mathematics. Candidates are advised to go through the English syllabus also to score good marks. Candidates are recommended to brief themselves with the complete syllabus as the questions are based on the official syllabus of VITEEE
