Himalayas are one of the youngest mountain ranges on the planet and consists mostly of uplifted sedimentary and metamorphic rock. There is presence of geosynclinal rocks. A geosyncline or geosynclinal rocks are described as a subsiding linear trough that was caused by the accumulation of sedimentary rock strata deposited in a basin and subsequently compressed, deformed, and uplifted into a mountain range, with attendant volcanism and plutonism. The antecedent rivers originating from the Himalayas include Indus, Satluj, Brahmaputra, Kosi and Subansiri. However there is no fault line that separates himalayas from Tibet as it is an extension of the former.
