Dharwar is later than Archaean period. They are the first metamorphosed sedimentary rocks. It is just later than Archean geological period. They are named Dharwar because it was first studied in Dharwar region of Karnataka. They are found in the region of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Chota Nagpur plateau and Meghalaya. Dharwar rocks are rich in iron ore, manganese, lead, zinc, gold • etc.
