Kabartal Wetland was designated as a Ramsar site in 2020 . It is located in Bihar's Begusarai district. Kabartal, also known as Kanwarjheel covers 2620 hectares of the Indo- Gangetic plains. Along with Kabartal, Asan Conservation Reserve (Uttarakhand) has also been designated as Ramsar sites, making total number of Ramsar sites in India 39, the highest in South Asia.
