(a) Lord Curzon, India's Viceroy between 1899 and 1905 , was one of the consequential holders of that post. The partition of the Bengal Presidency in 1905 was one Curzon's step, which pushed to the freedom movement (Swadeshi movement). The partition of Bengal was a political masterstroke to break growing Indian nationalism among Indians, it proved adverse for Britishers in longer term.
