The partition took place on 16 th October, 1905 , by Viceroy Curzon. Now the province of Bengal was divided into two new provinces-'Bengal' (comprising West Bengal, Bihar and Odisha) and 'Eastern Bengal and Assam'. But it was not supported by the people of Bengal as they considered it as the 'Divide and Rule' policy of the British Government.
