Question : 115 of 271
Marks: +1, -0
2xx2+3x+2\frac{2x}{x^2+3x+2}
Solution:
Let I=∫2xx2+3x+2dxI=\int \frac{2x}{x^2+3x+2}dx
Let 2xx2+3x+2\frac{2x}{x^2+3x+2} =2x(x+1)(x+2)=\frac{2x}{(x+1)(x+2)} =Ax+1+Bx+2=\frac{A}{x+1}+\frac{B}{x+2}
⇒ 2x = A(x + 2) + B(x + 1) ...(i)
Putting x = – 1 in (i), we get 2 (–1) = A(–1 + 2) ⇒ A = – 2
Putting x = – 2 in (i), we get 2 (–2) = B(–2 + 1) ⇒ B = 4
∴2xx2+3x+2\therefore \frac{2x}{x^2+3x+2} =−2x+1+4x+2=\frac{-2}{x+1}+\frac{4}{x+2}
∴∫2xx2+3x+2dx\therefore \int \frac{2x}{x^2+3x+2}dx =−2∫1x+1dx+4∫1x+2dx=-2\int \frac{1}{x+1}dx+4\int \frac{1}{x+2}dx
=−2log⁡∣x+1∣+4log⁡∣x+2∣+C=-2\log|x+1|+4\log|x+2|+C
