Question : 106 of 271
Marks: +1, -0
x+2x2+2x+3\frac{x+2}{\sqrt{x^2+2x+3}}
Solution:
Let I=∫x+2x2+2x+3dxI=\int \frac{x+2}{\sqrt{x^2+2x+3}}dx
=12∫2x+4x2+2x+3dx=\frac{1}{2}\int \frac{2x+4}{\sqrt{x^2+2x+3}}dx
=12∫2x+2+2x2+2x+3dx=\frac{1}{2}\int \frac{2x+2+2}{\sqrt{x^2+2x+3}}dx
=12∫2x+2x2+2x+3dx+∫dxx2+2x+3=\frac{1}{2}\int \frac{2x+2}{\sqrt{x^2+2x+3}}dx+\int \frac{dx}{\sqrt{x^2+2x+3}}
Let I=I1+I2I = I_1 + I_2 ...(i)
where I1=12∫2x+2x2+2x+3dxI_1=\frac{1}{2}\int \frac{2x+2}{\sqrt{x^2+2x+3}}dx
Let x2+2x+3=tx^2 + 2x + 3 = t ⇒(2x+2)dx=dt\Rightarrow (2x + 2) dx = dt
∴I1=12∫dtt=12×2t1/2\therefore I_1 = \frac{1}{2}\int \frac{dt}{\sqrt{t}} = \frac{1}{2} \times 2 t^{1/2}
=12×2x2+2x+3+C1=\frac{1}{2} \times 2 \sqrt{x^2 + 2x + 3}+C_1
=x2+2x+3+C1=\sqrt{x^2 + 2x + 3}+C_1 ...(ii)
Also, I2=∫dxx2+2x+3I_2=\int \frac{dx}{\sqrt{x^2+2x+3}}
=∫dxx2+2x+1−1+3=\int \frac{dx}{\sqrt{x^2+2x+1-1+3}}
=∫dx(x+1)2+(2)2=\int \frac{dx}{\sqrt{(x+1)^2+(\sqrt{2})^2}}
=log⁡∣(x+1)+(x+1)2+2∣=\log \left| (x+1)+\sqrt{(x+1)^2+2} \right|
=log⁡∣(x+1)+x2+2x+3∣+C2=\log \left| (x+1)+\sqrt{x^2+2x+3} \right|+C_2 ... (iii)
Hence from (i), (ii) and (iii), we get
I=x2+2x+3+log⁡∣(x+1)+x2+2x+3∣+CI=\sqrt{x^2 + 2x + 3}+\log \left| (x+1)+\sqrt{x^2+2x+3} \right|+C
