Two capacitors of capacities C and 2C are connected in parallel and then connected in series with a third capacitor of capacity 3C. The combination is charged with V volt. The charge on capacitor of capacity C is

Solution:

In parallel combination, the potential difference across each individual capacitor is the same as the potenital difference across the combination.

So, potential difference across capacitor of capacity C is

Charge on capacitor, C =

∴ Charge on capacitor of capacity C=

\frac{CV}{2}
