For permanent magnet we require āHigh retentivityā (to make magnet strong) and āHigh coercivityā (magnetisation should not be wiped away easily). Sample āPā have both high retentivity and high coercivity. For electromagnet we require āHigh saturated magnetismā (to develop high magnetisation) ā low coercivityā (so that it can easily demagnetize) and āleast possible area of hysteresis loopā (energy loss in magnetisation is least) Sample āQā is suitable for Electromagnet.
