‘Rio+20’ is the short name for United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development. It took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 20th–22th June, 2012. It was a 20–year follow–up to the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) held in the same city. In Rio, Member States decided to launch a process to develop a set of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which will build upon the Millennium Development Goals and converge with the post 2015 development agenda.
