The Constitution of India begins with a Preamble. The Preamble contains the ideals, objectives, and basic principles of the Constitution. • The term ‘Socialist’, ‘Secular’, and ‘Integrity’ were added to the preamble through 42nd Amendment Act, 1976. The Preamble has been amended only once so far, in 1976 • Fraternity assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity of the nation was present in the preamble of the constitution when it was adopted.
