Kiratarjuniya is a Sanskrit epic written in the 6th century by Bharavi. It is his only recognised work. Kiratarjuniya is a very famous story in the Mahabharata. The two main characters in the story are Kirata (Shiva) and Arjuna. The first Western translation of Kiratarjuniya was by Carl Cappeller into German, published by the Harvard Oriental Series in 1912. Magha was a 7th century poet and hailed from Gujarat. He was the Sanskrit poet at the court of King Varmalata at Shrimala. Bhasa lived around 3rd century A.D and is one of the earliest known Sanskrit dramatists of ancient India. His major works include Svapnavasavadatta and Madhyamavyayoga. Bhavabhuti was the patron of Yasovarman and he authoured Malatimadhava, Mahaviracharita.
