The Ring of Fire is a string of volcanoes and sites of seismic activity, or earthquakes, around the edges of the Pacific.Ocean. Roughly 90% of all earthquakes occur along the Ring of Fire, and the ring is dotted with 75% of all active volcanoes on Earth. It is also commonly known as the Circum-Pacific belt of volcanoes as itentirely lies in the Pacific Ocean. It lies in the zone of convergent plate boundary margin and the convergent boundaries are often subduction zones, where the heavier plate slips under the lighter plate, creating a deep trench.
