The first time Gandhiji officiallyused Satyagraha was in South Africa beginning in 1907 when heorganized opposition to the Asiatic Registration Law (the Black Act).The first instances of Satyagraha Revolution inspired by Mahatma Gandhi in the Indian Independence Movement occurred in Champaran district of Bihar and the Kheda district of Gujarat in 1917 and 1918 respectively.
