(d) The reason for mirage is total internal reflection of light. Total internal reflection is the phenomena which occurs when a propagated wave strikes a medium boundary at an angle larger than a particular critical angle with respect to the normal to the surface. Here the angle of incidence is smaller than the angle of refraction.
