This is about 49% of the global population, showing how deeply intertwined our lives have become with these platforms.

Today, anyone with an internet connection can access a wealth of knowledge, contribute to discussions, and voice their opinions. In many ways, social media has levelled the playing field, reducing the information gap between different parts of the world.
However, while social media's potential for positive impact is vast, it is also prone to misuse. The spread of misinformation, cyberbullying, privacy intrusion, and addictive behaviour are significant concerns. For instance, the unchecked propagation of fake news can lead to dangerous real-world consequences, creating a societal divide and fuelling tensions.
Despite these challenges, the potential benefits of social media, when used responsibly, are enormous. From fostering global connections to facilitating social movements and creating opportunities for e-commerce, social media has a profound impact on our everyday lives and societal dynamics.
