The measure of absorption or scattering of light by the suspended materials present in the water is known as Turbidit y. Turbidity is usually measured in Nephelometric turbidity units (NTU) or Jackson turbidit y units (JTL J). The max permissible limit in drinking water is 5 NTU/JTU or less.
