The approximate length of the navigable inland waterways in India is 14500km. The Government of India has identified 111 national waterways as per The National Waterways Act, 2016. The Government of India has launched many projects to make them navigable as early as possible. Waterways are cost efficient and eco-friendly as compared to other means of transport.
