SP Balasubramaniam was a singer who was conferred with the Padma Vibhushan posthumously in January 2021 in the field of art. He made his singing debut in 1966 with Telugu movie Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna. He has sung over 40000 songs in as many as 16 languages including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. He has been bestowed with National Award for Best Male Playback Singer six times.
