(1) Equator is an imaginary line on the earth’s surface at 0o latitude, equidistant from the North and South Poles, dividing the Earth into Northern and Southern Hemispheres. It is one of the five notable circles of latitude on Earth; the other being the two Polar Circles (Arctic Circle and Antarctic Circle) and the two Tropical Circles (Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn).
