(3) Seismologists base their earthquake predictions on several pieces of information such as the movement of earth along tectonic plates, the identi ?cation of seismic zones and the recurrence interval(the average time between successive events). They also study the plate boundaries that are made up of many faults, and most of the earthquakes around the world occur on these faults.
