(3) Abul Kalam Azad was an Indian scholar and a senior political leader of the Indian Independence movement. He established an Urdu weekly newspaper in 1912 called 'AlHilal' and openly attacked British policies while explosing the challenges facing common people. He served as congress president from 1940 to 1945, during which the Quit India movement was launched.
