(3) The first Tirthankara according to Jain tradition was Rishavadeva. The Vishnu Purana and the Bhagvat Purana describe Rishabha as an incarnation of Narayana. The first Tirathankar set the initial standards as to how human beings were to conduct themselves in day to day life.
