The Indian National Army (Azad Hind Fauj) was an armed force created by the Indian nationalists in 1942 in South-east Asia during World War II with an aim to secure Indian independence from the British rule. It formed a treaty with Imperial Japan in the latter's campaign in the South-east Asian theatre of WW-II. The army was constituted in 1942 under Mohan Singh, by Indian PoWs of the British-Indian Army captured by Japan in the Malayan campaign and at Singapore. Azad Hind, the Provisional Government of Free India, or, more simply, Free India,was an Indian provisional government established in occupied Singapore in 1943 and supported by the Empire of Japan,Nazi Germany, the Italian Social Republic and their allies.
