Java Trench, also called Sunda Double Trench, is a deep submarine depression in the eastern Indian Ocean that extends about 2,000 miles (3,200 kms) in a north-west-south-east arc along the south-western and southern Indonesian archipelago. Its maximum depth is 7,725 metres
