On 23 February, 2017, counting the achievements of the state government in the Rajasthan assembly Governor Kalyan singh said Rajasthan has become the second largest crude oil producing state in the country. The oil fields in the state were producing nearly 90 lakh tonnes oil annually which accounted for 24% of the total domestic crude oil production. Gujarat is the largest petroleum-producing states in India. The region in the state of Gujarat which is actively engaged in the production is Cambay in Kutch.
