Oxygen-rich blood from the lungs comes to the thin-walled upper chamber of the heart on the left, the left atrium.
The heart has four chambers:- two atria and two ventricles.
The 2 upper chambers are the Atria. They receive and collect blood.
The 2 lower chambers are the Ventricles. They pump blood to other parts of your body.
Arteries carry blood away from the heart (oxygen-rich blood) and veins carry blood to the heart (deoxygenated blood).
The right atrium receives blood from the body which is deoxygenated or impure blood and is supplied by the veins.
The right ventricle pumps the blood from the right atrium into the lungs to be oxygenated and removal of carbon dioxide.
The left atrium receives blood from the lungs which are rich in oxygen (or oxygenated blood).
The left ventricle pumps the blood from the left atrium out to the body, to supply the oxygenated blood to the entire body.
