Both Fundamental Rights and Directive Principles of State Policy(DPSP) talk about the protection to be given to women and children.
Article 15(1): guarantees equality by prohibiting any discrimination on the grounds of religion, race, caste, sex, place of birth.
Further, Article 15(3): empowers the government to make special provisions for women and children.
Article 21A ensures free and compulsory elementary education to children between 6-14 years of age as a fundamental right.
Again, Article 24 prohibits employment of any children below the age of 14 years to be employed in hazardous factories.
Also, DPSP has various provisions relating to women and children including maternity relief (Article 42), provision of early childhood care and education for children below six years of age (Article 45).
Besides these, the Judiciary through its various judgments have been instituting various right and provisions for women like equal pay for equal work,prohibition of sexual harassment at workplace, working condition of women during night shifts etc.
