(d) : Each lung is enclosed in two membranes, the pleura. The inner membrane is called the visceral pleuron and the outer membrane is called parietal pleuron. A very narrow space exists between the two pleura. It is called the pleural cavity and contains a watery fluid called the pleural fluid that lubricates the pleura. Periosteum is the outer membrane of the bone. Perichondrium is a layer that surrounds the cartilage and pericardium is the membrane that encloses the pericardial cavity, containing the vertebrate heart.
