Nalanda Mahavihara was established by Gupta ruler Kumargupta I in the 5 th century CE. It is located in the Nalanda district of Bihar. It was a reversed Buddhist Monastery which also served as a renowned centre of learning in the World from 5th century CE to 1200CE. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
