Explanation:

Total workers in 1998

= 2000

and in 2000

= 2400

For each category, find the increase in the actual number of workers.

The categories where the number increased are P, Q, R and U.

Increase in P

= 4

Increase in Q

= 240

Increase in R

= 84

Increase in U

= 80

Category S has no increase, so it is not counted.

Total increase

= 4 + 240 + 84 + 80 = 408
