Alam Ara was the first Indian talkie and was directed by Ardeshir Irani in the year 1931. The movie along with its songs were widely successful during those times. The song ‘Dede Khuda Ke Naam Pe', which was from the movie Alam Ara was the first song of Indian cinema. Irani handled the department of sound recording through the help of Tanar Sound System . The film was released in Bombay’s Majestic Theater.
