Kerala is the first state in India to set up a price Monitoring & Research Unit (PMRU). PMRU functions to track violation of prices of essential drugs and medical devices under the Drugs Price Control Order (DPCO). The National Pharmaceutical pricing Authority has proposed to set up such a unit in every state and union territory.
