(c) India has become the first country in the world to issue Biometric Seafarer Identity Document (BSID), Which captures the facial biometric data of seafarers. The project to issue BSID to seafarers is implemented by Union Ministry of Shipping in collaboration with centre for Development of advanced computing (CDAC), Mumbai.
