Directions: Read the given pie-chart carefully and answer the following questions.

The pie chart given below shows the percentage distribution of the number of employees working in 6 different departments of a company.

Solution:

Number of employees in operation department =

\frac{20}{100}

× 4500 = 900

Number of employees in technical department =

\frac{10}{100}

× 4500 = 450

⇒ Total number of employees in operation and technical department = 900 + 450 = 1350

Number of employees in manufacturing department =

\frac{45}{100}

× 4500 = 2025

Number of employees in sales department =

\frac{5}{100}

× 4500 = 225

⇒ Total number of employees in manufacturing and sales department = 2025 + 225 = 2250

∴ Required ratio = 1350 : 2250

= 3 : 5
