From statement I,
Let x be the age of son.
Then the age of mother will be (60 – x).
From statement II,

⇒ x = 15
So, the age of son is 15 years and age of mother is (60 – 15) = 45 years
The ratio between the present age of mother and son = 45 : 15 = 3 : 1
Hence, both statement I and statement II are sufficient to answer the question but none of them individually is sufficient to answer the question.
