10x^2 - x - 24 = 0

\Rightarrow 10x^2 + 15x - 16x - 24 = 0

\Rightarrow 5x (2x + 3) - 8 (2x + 3) = 0

\Rightarrow (5x - 8) (2x + 3) = 0

\Rightarrow x = \frac{8}{5} \text{or,} -\frac{3}{2}

y^2 - 2y = 0

\Rightarrow y (y - 2) = 0

\Rightarrow y = 0 \text{or,} 2
