Six trains, T1 through T6, are traveling down the same track toward the same destination. If no action is taken, the trains will arrive at their destination in the following order, from first to last:

T1, T2, T3, T6, T5, T4.

The trains need to arrive at their destination in the following order, from first to last:

T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6.

Based on the information provided, select the train that will need to be diverted first and the train that will need to be diverted second. Make only two selections, one in each column.

Solution:

Trains T6 and T5 are not the in right order of arrival and should thus be diverted.

If you divert

T 6

first the resultant order will be:

T 1, T 2, T 3, T 5, T 4

and then

T 6

and if this is followed up by diverting

T 5

second, the resultant order will be:

T 1, T 2

,

T 3

,

T 4, T 6

and then

T 5

. If T5 is diverted first the result will be: T1, T2, T3, T6, T4 and then T5. Followed by T6 being diverted second the result will be T1, T2, T3, T4. T5, and then T6.
