Concept:Cheraw is a traditional folk dance from Mizoram, also known as the Bamboo dance.Explanation:The dance is performed by six to eight people who hold pairs of bamboo staves. These staves are clapped together rhythmically on a horizontal bamboo placed on the ground. Performers step gracefully in and out of the moving bamboo poles. The dance is accompanied by gongs and drums. It is a highlight of festive occasions like harvest festivals. Cheraw is recognized as one of the oldest dance forms in Mizoram. In 2010, a Guinness World Record was set for the largest Cheraw performance. The dance is also known as the Bamboo dance due to the use of bamboo sticks. Other traditional dances of Mizoram include Khuallam, Sarlamkai, Chheihlam, and Mizo.
