Under Murshid Quli Khan Bengal broke away from the Mughal control. He was initially appointed as the main or the deputy to the governor. Alivardi Khan was the Nawab of Bengal during 1740-1756. Under his rule in Bengal, the banking of Jagat Seth became very prosperous. Burhan-ul Mulk Saadat Khan was appointed subedar of Awadh in 1772. He also held the combined offices of Subadari, diwani and faujdari.
