(a) Baku is the capital and largest city of Azerbaijan, as well as the largest city on the Caspian sea and of the Caucasus region. The city is renowned for its harsh winds which gives it the name the city of winds. It is famous for its medieval walled old city, which contains the place of the Shir Vanshahs, a vast royal complex and the iconic stone Maiden Tower.
