When a primary amine like methylamine (CH3NH2) react with chloroform (CHCl3) in the presence of KOH, it will form iso-cyanide having same number of carbon atoms, as in alkyl group of amine. i.e. methyl amine. This reaction is known as carbylamine reaction.
