Monera is a kingdom of prokaryotes. Moneran lack true nucleus, i.e. genetic material is not organised into a nucleus. Cells of Monera contain one envelope type organisation, i.e., whole protoplasm (nucleoprotein) is covered by plasma membrane but internal separation (compartmentalisation) is absent. In other words nucleic acid (DNA) is in direct contact with the rest of cell substances. Prokaryotic cells lack histone proteins, thus nucleic acid (DNA) is known as nucleoid. It aggregates in circular shape known as circular DNA.
