Let the number of coins of 50 p and 1 Re.be x each Drawing coins of 50 paise = 1/3rd of the total 50 paise coins Remaining coins of 50 paise in the box = 2/3rd of the total 50 paise coins Drawing coins of 1 rupee = 1/4th of the total 1 rupee coins Remaining coins of 1 rupee in the box = 3/4th of the total 1 rupee coins Now, According to the question $\frac{2x}{3} \times \frac{50}{100} + \frac{3x}{4} \times 1 = 26$ ⇒ $\frac{x}{3} + \frac{3x}{4} = 26$ ⇒ 4x + 9x = 26 × 12 ⇒ 13x = 26 × 12 ⇒ x = 24 ∴ Required number of coins initially in the cash-box = 24 + 24 = 48
