Question : 129 of 271
Marks: +1, -0
2x(x2+1)(x2+3)\frac{2x}{(x^2+1)(x^2+3)}
Solution:
Let I=∫2x(x2+1)(x2+3)dxI=\int\frac{2x}{(x^2+1)(x^2+3)}dx
Put x2=y⇒2x dx=dyx^2 = y \Rightarrow 2x\,dx = dy
∴I=∫dy(y+1)(y+3)\therefore I=\int\frac{dy}{(y+1)(y+3)}
Let 1(y+1)(y+3)=Ay+1+By+3\frac{1}{(y+1)(y+3)}=\frac{A}{y+1}+\frac{B}{y+3}
⇒1=A(y+3)+B(y+1)\Rightarrow 1 = A(y+3) + B(y+1) ...(i)
Putting y = –1 in (i), we get 1=2A⇒A=121=2A \Rightarrow A=\frac{1}{2}
Putting y = –3 in (i), we get 1=−2B⇒B=−121=-2B \Rightarrow B=-\frac{1}{2}
⇒1(y+1)(y+3)=12(y+1)−12(y+3)\Rightarrow \frac{1}{(y+1)(y+3)}=\frac{1}{2(y+1)}-\frac{1}{2(y+3)}
∴I=∫(12(y+1)−12(y+3))dy\therefore I=\int\left(\frac{1}{2(y+1)}-\frac{1}{2(y+3)}\right)dy
=12∫dyy+1−12∫dyy+3=\frac{1}{2}\int\frac{dy}{y+1}-\frac{1}{2}\int\frac{dy}{y+3}
=12log⁡∣y+1∣−12log⁡∣y+3∣+C=\frac{1}{2}\log|y+1|-\frac{1}{2}\log|y+3|+C
=12log⁡∣y+1y+3∣+C=\frac{1}{2}\log\left|\frac{y+1}{y+3}\right|+C
=12log⁡∣x2+1x2+3∣+C=\frac{1}{2}\log\left|\frac{x^2+1}{x^2+3}\right|+C
