Question : 108 of 271
Marks: +1, -0
5x+3x2+4x+10\frac{5x+3}{\sqrt{x^2+4x+10}}
Solution:
Let I=∫5x+3x2+4x+10dxI=\int\frac{5x+3}{\sqrt{x^2+4x+10}}dx
Put 5x+3=A(ddx(x2+4x+10))+B5x+3=A\left(\frac{d}{dx}\left(x^2+4x+10\right)\right)+B
⇒5x+3=A(2x+4)+B\Rightarrow 5x+3=A(2x+4)+B ... (i)
Comparing the coefficients of x in (i), we get
5=2A⇒A=525=2A\Rightarrow A=\frac{5}{2}
Comparing the constant terms in (i), we get
3=4A+B⇒B=−73=4A+B\Rightarrow B=-7
I=∫52(2x+4)−7x2+4x+10dxI=\int\frac{\frac{5}{2}(2x+4)-7}{\sqrt{x^2+4x+10}}dx
=52∫2x+4x2+4x+10dx−7∫dxx2+4x+10=\frac{5}{2}\int\frac{2x+4}{\sqrt{x^2+4x+10}}dx-7\int\frac{dx}{\sqrt{x^2+4x+10}}
I=52I1−7I2 (say)I=\frac{5}{2}I_1-7I_2\text{ (say)} ... (ii)
Now, I1=∫2x+4x2+4x+10dxI_1=\int\frac{2x+4}{\sqrt{x^2+4x+10}}dx
Put x2+4x+10=tx^2+4x+10=t ⇒(2x+4)dx=dt\Rightarrow (2x+4)dx=dt
I1=∫dtt=2tI_1=\int\frac{dt}{\sqrt{t}}=2\sqrt{t} =2x2+4x+10+C1=2\sqrt{x^2+4x+10}+C_1 ... (iii)
and I2=∫dxx2+4x+10I_2=\int\frac{dx}{\sqrt{x^2+4x+10}}
=dx(x+2)2+(6)2=\frac{dx}{\sqrt{(x+2)^2+(\sqrt{6})^2}}
=log⁡∣x+2+(x+2)2+(6)2∣=\log\left|x+2+\sqrt{(x+2)^2+(\sqrt{6})^2}\right|
=log⁡∣x+2+x2+4x+10∣+C2=\log\left|x+2+\sqrt{x^2+4x+10}\right|+C_2... (iv)
Hence from (ii), (iii) and (iv), we get
I=5x2+4x+10−7log⁡∣x+2+x2+4x+10∣+CI=5\sqrt{x^2+4x+10}-7\log\left|x+2+\sqrt{x^2+4x+10}\right|+C
