Question : 65 of 74
Marks: +1, -0
Why is Ka2<<Ka1K_{a_{2}} < < K_{a_{1}} for H2SO4H_2SO_4 in water?
Solution:
H2SO4H_2SO_4 is a very strong acid in water largely because of its firstionisation to H3O+H3O^{+}and HSO4HSO_4^{–}. The ionisation of HSO4HSO_4^{–} to H3O+H3O^{+} and SO42SO_4^{2–} is very very small. That is why, Ka2<<Ka1K_{a_{2}} < < K_{a_{1}}
